The Utility Contractor's Guide
1. Auger Drives & Bits
Best for: Fencing, decks, and pole barns. The Stinger Auger Drive (DSS) is the industry workhorse, compatible with bits from 6" to 36". Select Standard Earth Bits for general soil or upgrade to Rock Bits with carbide bullets for drilling through fractured rock and asphalt.
2. Chain Trenchers
Best for: Irrigation, electrical, and drainage. The Bigfoot Trencher cuts a clean, uniform channel faster than an excavator bucket. Available in depths up to 4-5 feet. For mini skid steers (Dingo/MT100), the Mini Bigfoot offers the same precision in a compact package.
3. Trenching Consumables
Best for: Maintenance. Teeth wear out. We stock replacement Cup Teeth (for dirt) and Shark Teeth (for hard ground) to keep your chain cutting aggressively. Always inspect your chain tension before every job.
Auger drives typically come with a 2" Hex output shaft (Commercial Standard) or a 2-9/16" Round shaft (Agricultural Standard). Ensure your auger bits match your drive's output shaft shape.
